Recycling Paper – How It Helps Our Eco-System

Recycling paper is the process of taking waste paper, or paper that would otherwise be thrown out, and remaking it into new paper products. Paper that can be used to make recycled paper is broken down into three categories- mill broke, pre-consumer waste, and post-consumer waste. Mill broke paper is paper that becomes scrap during the manufacturing of paper and it is recycled right in the paper mill. Pre-consumer paper waste is papers that were discarded before consumer use. Post-consumer paper waste is papers that were discarded by the consumer after use. Paper that is used in recycling is called scrap paper.

In the United States, approximately 60% of our landfills are composed of disposed, waste paper. We throw away tremendous amounts of paper, and in doing so, we either landfill or burn it at high economic and health costs. Yet, we can easily stop producing paper waste with a little forethought. Make sure you recycle, and be careful about the type of paper products you buy.

Different Ways to Recycle

One of the most fundamental things we can do to help the environment and be as eco-friendly as we can is to recycle. Recycling makes a direct impact on the world around us as it reduces the amount of waste that builds up on ever-increasing landfill sites and costs in both energy and money to transport and deal with.

By recycling we not only reduce waste but cut down on the energy use that is required to remove and dispose of our unwanted rubbish.
