What is Telecom Expense Management? A Method of Reducing Waste in Your Business

You’ve heard the term Telecom Expense Management tossed about before. But just what is it? The Cliff Notes version of the explanation is the process of fine-tuning your telecom usage so it is as efficient as possible, while reducing your expenditure. That is a vastly over simplified way of saying it, but that’s what it does.

Telecom Expense Management isn’t something that costs…it pays. Generally, the savings the TEM team finds is greater than what they charge. Depending upon the Telecom Expense Management company working with you, they may charge a percentage of the savings they find. If they find no savings, they don’t get paid. The more savings they find, the more they get paid. It’s the perfect incentive based pay scale, isn’t it?

How to Reduce Waste in Your Business With Telecom Expense Management

My cell phone drives me crazy. Oh, I like it well enough, but when it comes to dealing with the vendor and service provider, or trying to determine if I’m getting the best deal, I am like a deer in the headlights. It’s good that I don’t run a big business what requires a huge telecom system. It’s good that I don’t run ANYTHING that requires me to figure out the best way to utilize the telecom products available. So when I think of the poor soul who is suddenly thrust into that position with no training or tools, I can only sigh and be glad it is him – not me.

Lean ERP – Effectively Using ERP and Reducing Waste in Manufacturing – Part 2

As I mentioned in part 1, my experiences are strongest with two ERP systems each of which implements somewhat different philosophies. Therefore I will use the Microsoft Dynamics GP and Visual ERP systems for my examples.

Last article I mentioned that Visual ERP implements a classic Batch and Queue manufacturing technique, but I didn’t really dig into what that meant.
