Reusing and Reducing Waste
There are many ways around your house and everyday life to reuse products.
Reuse Paper – Everyday we waste paper and a lot of paper can be reused. Give paper that is only printed or written on one side to you kids to draw on. You can use the same paper for scratch paper, leave some by the phone to write message on. You can also run paper through the printer on the other side for rough drafts.
Reuse Plastic Bags – We use the plastic bag our bread comes in over and over again. We save money on plastic bags and they come in handy.
It is Too Often Overlooked That Using a Trash Compactor to Reduce Waste is a Practical Idea
In the long fought battle for environmental protection, humans have been carried away by many extreme arguments. The common argument that fails to make headlines is something that individuals can do right now to help the status of things. This simple idea is one of using a trash compactor to reduce waste.
Saving the environment sounds like a mission that belongs in a science fiction film. Instead of using verbs like to save to describe how to best help out in a situation that could use some aid, maybe it would be better to concentrate on the concept of reducing waste. Reducing waste is something every human can get behind and do in their daily lives.
How to Reduce Waste in Corporate Front Offices
Every company worldwide is looking to avoid waste in their operations. This drive towards eliminating waste is both from a monetary standpoint, that is to save on expenses as well as from a social standpoint, that is to behave in an environmentally friendly manner. Needless to say, while the former is easily understood, the latter is more subtle in the sense that when we reduce waste of any kind, we do save on natural resources and thus reduce pollution and environmental damage. Whereas the focus on reducing waste has been directed for a long time towards the back end of businesses, such as reducing waste in warehouses, manufacturing shop floors and such, it is only recently that the focus on becoming environmentally friendly has been forwarded to the front office areas. In this brief article, we will explore some of the simple things that can be done by corporate front office personnel in this regard.
It is not unusual to see coffee pots brewed with fresh coffee in the morning and several times during the day with almost half the brewed coffee being dumped down the drain because it has been sitting around for a while and tastes burnt. Now, coffee costs money and there is no need to waste it in this manner. If you feel that half the pot of fresh coffee is all that you consume, then brew only half a pot at a time and reduce the coffee grind usage. Not only are you saving money on coffee, you are also saving on water. Next, one can see sticky notes that are about three inches square with one line scribbled on it being used all over the offices. Why waste paper in this manner. Use smaller sticky note pads that are available everywhere and start saving on an inch of paper at a time; you will be amazed at the saving of paper annually and the associated environmental impact. Scratch paper is for some reason used on one side only. There is no rhyme or reason for this. Paper is opaque and both sides can be used, cutting down on scratch paper usage almost in half.
